  • Facebook Connect Issues By Gavin King
Facebook Connect Issues Facebook Connect is the interface that allows you to connect to the Archive using your Facebook account.  On quite a few occasions I've found that I keep getting timeouts.  Unfortunately this isn't something I can do anything about as it is due to facebooks flakey platform that seems to have issues on a daily basis.  I've ended up disassociating my account with Facebook on the Archive... here's how: Disacccoiating your account with Facebook 1- From the frontpage of the Archive look to the column on the right hand side and you'll see a panal called 'Your Profile'.  Click on the link that says 'Forgot your Password'. 2 - It will then ask you to type in the email address you've associated with your account.  Type this in and click on the submit button. 3 - You will be taken to a screen asking you to type in a token.  Check your email (including spam folders) and you should have a email with a 'token' in which is a string of characters.  Copy this and paste it into the box on the webpage.  Click on the submit button. 4 - If all went well you should now be taken to a…

  • The New Martial Archive! By Gavin King
The New Martial Archive! A new year and a totally revamped Archive!  We have literally rebuilt the Archive from the ground up and I think you'll notice the difference.  We're still in the 'beta' stage which means that there is a little more work to be done but all of the content is now up and ready to rock and roll.  All the old favorites are back including the blogs, articles and columns with the addition of our brand new video section - which is already on track for becoming the worlds most definitive source of martial arts video clips. There is a little bit more work to be done on the user registration and an exciting new 'forum' feature that will be online over the next week - please be patient with this bit.  This has beeen a huge project so they may be a few hiccups along the way, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you notice any. Keep an eye on the new Editor's Blog for updates.  We've also got a stack of new and exclusive content waiting to be uploaded, there are new top name writers coming to the Archive and over the next couple of months we'll be implementing even more…

  • Construction over the Xmas Period By Gavin King
Construction over the Xmas Period Over the Christmas period we are going to take advantage of the wind down to concentrate on the next stage of the Archive's development.  Focussing our efforts on development will mean that most of the new content lined up will be added in the new year.  I am currently rebuilding the archive from the ground up with a completely new video and article libraries which will make information a lot easier to find.  There is also a cleaner and faster layout and I'll be trying to resolve a few little annoying quirks.  If you have any suggestions then please don't hesitiate to let us know either by leaving a comment below or contacting me on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  The new version is penciled in to be finished by the end of January 2010. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year!

  • Martial Arts Illustrated - November Issue By Gavin King
My new column 'The Martial Therapist' will be starting in the November Issue of Martial Arts Illustrated.  Every month I will be talking about the trials and tribulations that we get our body into and how we can use the martial arts and physical therapy to put us on the road to recovery.  Steve is also making a return to the magazine with articles and interviews over the coming issues. Martial Arts Illustrated is also having a big overhaul with a new logo, layout and many exciting new articles.  Steve is bringing across some of the columnists he has been working with over the past year or so make sure you pick up a copy.  Cilck here for more info! Here's a taster of my 'Martial Therapist' article: “My knees are absolutely shot.  All the pain and time off caused by that operation last year was for nothing!” said Alan as he slumped onto my treatment bench. Alan is an old school karate-ka - a veteran of over 40 years who was a graduate of the ‘Karate men feel no pain’ school of thought and started training when real men only bled on the inside.  His years of austere training…
